Few security experts know the small business as well as Neal O'Farrell. He began his first small business more than 25 years ago after graduating from college and his business of choice was data security. He has been self-employed in cyber security since then. Neal attributes his entrepreneurial drive to the family clothing business started in the 1920's. It quickly became one of Ireland's best known clothing firms with celebrity clients around the world that included fashion icons Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Guy Laroche, and Balmain, as well as Nancy Reagan, the Duchess of Westminster and the Queen of Siam. Neal is the author of three small business guides, including The Evening Standard Big Small Business Guide, a 500-page business guide published by London's largest daily newspaper and the first small business guide published by a British newspaper. Neal was recognized for his success as a high tech entrepreneur when he was selected twice as the entrepreneur to represent Ireland in the Export To Japan Study program, hosted each year in Tokyo by the Japanese government. In the late 1990s Neal created Repelle.com, the first online security portal for the small business, and in 2003 hosted the nation's very first Cyber Security Day, a day of free security training for more than a thousand small business owners. Over the last decade Neal has worked with more than 100 Chambers of Commerce and other business organizations to help educate small businesses about the importance of cyber security. |
