My Security Plan is the recognized leader in educating consumers, employees, and small business owners about the dangers of cybercrime and identity theft.

The company name comes from a simple security principle: that if every individual - customer, consumer, or employee - takes just some responsibility for securing their own corner of cyberspace - then many forms of cybercrime and identity theft could be avoided.

My Security Plan was founded in 2002 by Neal O'Farrell, a nationally recognized security expert and a vocal advocate for the importance of better user education and awareness, and currently acts as a spokesperson and customer security advocate for a number of organizations.

Once described as one of the world's Top 20 security experts, Neal began his career in information security nearly three decades ago and has taught security awareness to millions of end users and small business owners around the world.

Neal is the Consumer Security Advocate for Intersections, the leading provider of consumer identity theft protection services that have safeguarded more than 20 million consumers against identity theft.

He is a founder and board member of the Center for Information Security Awareness, a non-profit initiative to develop a national standard in employee security awareness, where he developed the center's online security training, testing, and certificate program. This program has since been adopted by FBI Infragard and has been used by more than 1,200 organizations around the world.

Neal was the first expert to train an entire police department in identity theft awareness, and that program has since been used by more than 200 police departments and police academies, as well as the FBI, the DMV, and US Attorney's Office.

A former writer and panel expert for SearchSecurity.com, over his long career Neal has worked as a security advisor to financial organizations, governments, military, intelligence, and Fortune 500 firms around the world, and has taught security awareness to employees from a wide variety of organizations including Toyota, ChevronTexaco, Merrill Lynch, Cost Plus World Market, bebe stores, and the Government of Bulgaria.

Neal was also Director of Education for Zone Labs, makers of the award-winning ZoneAlarm firewall. At Zone Labs Neal was responsible for providing security education to the company's 3 million subscribers in 120 countries. He was also a columnist for 55 Alive, the online community for those age 55+.

In 2003 Neal founded Think Security First, an award-winning non-profit partnership between security experts and Chambers of Commerce to provide free training on cybercrime and identity theft for small businesses across the country.

Think Security First is funded entirely by sponsors including Microsoft, Protect My ID (a part of Experian), Paypal, F-Secure, SonicWALL, Mozy, and Panda Security.
